Discrimination is a problem that has been all over the world for many years. I once had an experience with discrimination that had changed the way I thought about people, society, and the world. Even though all of my experiences usually change the way I think of the world, they change my mind in different days. One time I was in a class room with my class mates and a different teacher than our own was going to teach us a lesson on the Middle East. During the lesson, this teacher was showing very strong signs of being anti-Arab. For example: He said that Arabs do not want peace, and that they want to destroy all of the Jewish people. The teacher himself was Jewish, so I can see why he takes so much pride in stating false facts. Even though him being Jewish normally would not matter, the comments he was making were very incorrect and hurtful to the people of different religions. His comments would also only inspire students to be violent instead of being kind.
At first, I thought all he was saying was the truth. (As most students do when the words come from a teacher.) I came home with a slip of paper and was to write feed back. I felt joyful and excited that I had all of this new information and I was ready to write. My mother had asked to read it and then she informed me that over half the facts that were on the back of the page were incorrect. One of the things the teacher had said was that Israel was just learning peace, and it's neighbors were learning war. Even though I don't disagree that Israel is not learning peace, I do have to say that Israel has had several wars with it's neighbors and it's neighbors have had several wars with Israel. I am not for war, I just think that it is wrong that a teacher takes so much pride in his or her own heritage, that they attempt to change facts so that the children who are learning the facts from them think that it is true. Discrimination is not okay. If you or a child is being discriminated by somebody, don't ignore it. Fight back.
